HOUSE PILINGS
Driving a Deeper Foundation in Long Island.
All Shore Marine Construction Inc., located in Islip on Long Island, is most notably known for repairing and building docks. However, with a strong history in the industry, All Shore Marine Construction also offers an array of marine construction services including constructing decks, bulkheads and seawalls. The company provides services for lifting boats and jet skis, as well as barge, crane, and dredging services. Already offering almost everything one could need in the marine construction and service industry, this small, island-based company, has somehow managed to offer even more.
Driving its name and reputation deeper into Long Island’s foundation, All Shore Marine Construction, Inc. most recently added pile driving and house piling to the vast list of expertise it offers to its clients. Perhaps unfamiliar to the name, just about everyone has seen a structure that was built using the technique of pile driving; bridges, houses, restaurants, and all other structures that are raised above ground, or appear to be floating, all have one thing in common; a form of pile diving was implemented in the construction process. If the location of a building or structure is on the water, near the water, on a hill, or on a mountain, it undoubtedly lacked the solid and/or flat surface needed for the structure’s foundation to be built upon. And the only way to overcome such a challenge is… pile diving.
Pile driving is a technique, used by builders, in which long and extremely strong poles are driven deep into the ground. Special machines hammer poles, or stilts, deep into the ground and bedrock. This forces the surrounding earth to close around the pole, and like cement, locks it into place, making it almost impossible to move. Pile diving, is therefore the most critical step in the construction process because the piles become the primary foundation of which the structure is built.
So how does this pertain to All Shore Marine Construction? Well, with the greatest feature and selling point of Long Island being that it is an island, the most ideal and sought-for locations for houses and restaurants are those located on or near the water. Structures built in such locations, as well as those that are below sea level, almost always need be raised, in order to evade the constant threat of flooding. As a result, the construction process must begin with pile diving. Ultimately, this process is the same process All Shore Marine Construction uses to build piers, stationary docks, bulkheads, and more. So, while All Shore Marine Construction has only recently promoted its pile driving and house piling services, the company and its crew are not only professionals, but experts who specialize in the technique and field.
